The Italy you see here is so unlike Rome, Naples, Florence and Venice that you might not think you're in the Land of Everyone's Favorite Travel Guides.
Because I was a guest of an Italian Greek Orthodox priest in Modena, I went where he and his friends took me in northern Italy, and these images are the result. I told them I wasn't particularly interested in normal tourist places, so they took me high into the mountains, where we did a lot more uphill walking than I wanted. Anything to get a good picture, right?
