General Store Gossip, Mist, Oregon

Ordering Information
Description
Owner Al Cavanaugh moved about as far away from New York as he could, and ended up in tiny Mist, Oregon, high in the hills above the Columbia River in Columbia County. The general store just happened to be for sale in the late 60s, so he bought it and became an instant source of invaluable gossip for the loggers and hill people who used his store as a community gathering place. I thought I had stepped into a time-warp from the 1930s, a Norman Rockwell drawing, or perhaps a set from Andy of Mayberry. I don't know if he or the store are still there, but if they are, he'd be quick to tell you before you left that he made a mean hamburger. Boy, was he right.
