The general store just happened to be for sale in the late 60s, so he bought it and became an instant source of invaluable gossip for the loggers and hill people who used his store as a community gathering place. I thought I had stepped into a time-warp from the 1930s, a Norman Rockwell drawing, or perhaps a set from Andy of Mayberry.
