Description
What is in the Magic Bag? She's being very polite and very patient, isn't she? There is so much life in this great, crossroads city at the chokepoint of Europe and Asia that I scarcely had time to wait for the end to my visual stories; I wanted to keep moving, keep photographing. As I traveled from Europe to Iran and back again, I kept stopping in Istanbul, lured by the mixture of East and West, ancient, winding streets, multi-layered architecture of wood and stone and mortar. If someone wants to publish a book on Istanbul street scenes, I have the images. 1976.
