I went to college not far from its northern pilons, and spent many an hour clambering around the banks on both sides of the Willamette River, trying to find the best angles to photograph this magnificent jewel of architecture without distracting wires or tree limbs getting in the way. The original is actually in color--soft, pastel-like colors, with Mt. Hood in the background, beaming approvingly at this green-clad human construction that so gracefully frames her far-off majesty.
